THE VENUES

Every Undertone event happens in one of two settings:

THE ROOM

Staged for pure sound.

An event space re-mixed to become the ideal listening setting, with a properly specified audiophile hi-fi rig to reveal each track exactly as the original engineers intended.

THE CINEMA

Screens off, sound on.

A soundproofed retro cinema repurposed to become a full-body soundscape. Velvet seats with the lights down: you won’t know where you start and the music begins.

THE MUSIC

Iconic albums that defined the canon.

A curator-selected playlist featuring songs that embody one of three genres: atmospheric metal, neo-soul, and blue note jazz. Events are each focused on a single genre and has its own waitlist, so join the one you’re most excited to attend in the links below.

Neo Soul

D’Angelo | Erykah Badu | Jill Scott

Think D'Angelo's Voodoo and Badu's Baduizm, played loud enough to feel and soft enough to slide into: it’s the sound of 2 am spent with people who feel it as deeply as you do.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What every night has in common:

The actual recordings.

Iconic, genre-defining songs played on a best-in-class system (not live music sessions or a cover band).

A system built for the space.

Audio engineered for the room, so every layer sounds like it did on the studio floor.

No
distractions.

Phones away and lights down low: nothing but a roomful of songs as they were meant to sound.

A crowd that came to listen.

These are spaces created for people who show up to truly listen, not a substitute for a live show or bar.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Undertone isn’t a concert, it’s a listening party like none other.

This one’s for the heads, the crate-diggers and diehards who know how transformative the right soundsystem can truly be.

From start to finish, we’re playing the iconic songs you’ve listened to a thousand times—like it’s the very first time. It’s a night engineered to make every beat drop, vocal line, lick, and riff sound just as clear as it did the day recorded it in the studio.
